Calling all Angels!

Last weekend YNPN Orlando attended the Give Kids the World 2014 Blogger Bash and became an official Awareness Angel. What’s an Awareness Angel you ask? It is a messenger of hope for kids with life-threatening illnesses. We help to spread the message of what Give Kids the World offers to families with children with life-threatening illnesses and by helping to spread the message, may reach a family that otherwise wouldn’t have known that such a magical place existed. Awareness Angels help to bring attention to the cause and become a spokesperson for it. YNPN Orlando is honored to be part of such a great cause!

The evening started out with an introduction from Give Kids the World President, Pamela Landwirth. Pam talked about the Village and highlighted some of the amazing things they are able to accomplish each year. Following Pam’s address, a former Wish Family took the stage to share their personal memories of their time spent at the Village, and to explain just how much it changed their lives to this day – with them moving to Orlando after their visit. It was an incredibly moving and inspirational tale that sent sniffles through the standing-room-only audience.

2013 GKTW Annual Report

As the evening progressed, the Bloggers were treated to a tour of the Village, followed by a delicious dinner at The Gallery of Hope provided by American Q restaurant. Normally the lone one blogging in a crowd, this author rejoiced as all bloggers simultaneously reached for various electronic devices to snap pictures of food, venues and selfies at the selfie stations. A post to social media with #GKTWBloggerBash nominated you into a goodie-bag drawing taking place at the end of the event.

photo 3While the dinner was a great time to network with fellow bloggers, the best part of the evening was being able to join the wish families at the Big Splash Bash. At this pool party we were able to meet families, dance with the children and witness the seemingly never-ending smiles and happiness brining hope to all. And while this blogger may have taken a water balloon (or two) and left the event wet, she left the event happy and eager to share this experience with the world.
