A note from our 2016-2017 Board Chair

When I moved back to Orlando, Florida from Des Moines, Iowa to begin my career at Heart of Florida United Way in 2012, I began looking for ways to expand my network in the nonprofit community. I received my Bachelors in Social Work from UCF a few years prior, but had lost contact with friends or people moved away and I was hoping to make new connections. A coworker suggested I look up YNPN and I did just that.

Shortly after joining YNPN Orlando, I became a part of the Leadership Team as a committee member. I then served as Membership Chair for two years and am ecstatic to be the 2016-2017 Board Chair of YNPN Orlando. During my journey to Board Chair, I have met many wonderful young professionals from diverse backgrounds and nonprofit fields. Whether you work in the arts, human services, volunteer management – or even the corporate world, I am delighted you have joined YNPN Orlando. As the Board Chair this year, I am looking forward to engaging networking events, fun activities, and increasing online resources.

Now, it’s time for you to become more involved in our success – YNPN Orlando is seeking a diverse group of professionals who want to take the next step in their career and professional development by joining our Leadership Team. Taking on a leadership role with YNPN Orlando affords you many opportunities, including growth and development of your presence in our community, chances to connect with key community members, and develop your leadership style. A position with YNPN can be invaluable in helping you transition into a nonprofit career if you’re a corporate professional looking to break into the sector, or a student about to graduate. Most importantly, your contribution will leave a lasting mark on our community.

Applications for our 2016-2017 YNPN Orlando Leadership Team are now available on our website here, which includes position descriptions and all the details regarding joining the Leadership Team. We have several positions available, and all are welcome to apply for any position, even if you are brand new to the group. If you have any questions, feel free to call or email me directly; I would love to answer any questions you may have or speak further about the impact YNPN has in our community.
